I’ve been visiting Northern Ireland for a few years and have been on the lookout for a really good Indian restaurant. I visit Southall, London often, so my standards for Indian food are quite high! I originally planned to eat at Nu Delhi, but since Spice (which is owned by the same people) was much closer, I decided to make a reservation here instead. I was pleasantly surprised by both the food and the menu. While the menu is quite chicken-heavy, there are some solid vegetarian options available, though it would be great to see more dishes like chickpeas included. We ordered the prawns and vegetarian samosas to start along with the chutney selection — the mango chutney was absolutely incredible. For mains, we had the sea bass and the butter paneer, both of which were delicious and well executed. The flavours were excellent — more on the sweeter side rather than overly spicy, which I personally prefer — and importantly, the food didn’t feel watered down to suit a local palate. As an Indian, it was great to enjoy genuinely good-quality Indian food. Never thought I’d hear Diljit playing in Antrim, but I loved it! The staff were great and very attentive. I would definitely come back and have already recommended it to friends and family. I’ve given 4 stars rather than 5 simply because the menu didn’t include chickpea-based dishes or traditional Indian desserts — adding things like chole, jalebi, or gulab jamun would easily make this a 5-star experience. Looking forward to trying Nu Delhi next.
